Hi, our weekly e-newsletter (regular high school news, no crucial info) is put together using a custom-built CMS but we use Google Analytics to measure our readership. We have a click rate (clicking through and reading the newsletter) of around 30% – most of whom are parents (our primary target), who make up around 50% of the mailing list. We’re pretty happy with this, having read previously that the industry average was around 22%.

Interestingly, we recently conducted a comms audit and parents overwhelmingly responded positively to the newsletter and the majority said that they read it either every week or regularly – which is not quite what our stats show! Whether or not they’re reading as much as they say they are, the positive sentiments and sense of connection with the school that it provokes makes it worth the effort.

Hi Carla, yes we do – they’re all available here: https://www.riverview.nsw.edu.au/publications/ignatian/

We did a push a couple of years back to move to digital but had a very underwhelming response to this from our community. The big takeaway was that people enjoy the tactile experience of flipping through the magazine with a cup of tea – or something stronger! The digital version just doesn’t offer the same experience.

We now offer both, with around 10k+ on our hard copy mailing list and less on our digital list.

Our magazine is annual and timed in May/June as a touchpoint prior any financial EOFY appeals.
