The Communications and Events Officer plays a pivotal role in executing the College’s communications strategy and delivering high-quality events that align with its strategic vision. This role is responsible for managing digital communications, overseeing the College’s brand presence, and coordinating events that enhance engagement with students, alumni, and the wider community.
Reporting to the Director of Engagement, the role requires a dynamic and highly organised individual who can manage multiple responsibilities, develop compelling content, and coordinate College-wide events that strengthen reputation and student recruitment efforts.
Key Responsibilities
Under the broad guidance of the Director of Engagement:
- Develop marketing collateral to support student recruitment, engagement, and College events.
- Develop high-quality written and visual content, ensuring alignment with the College’s brand identity and engagement goals.
- Maintain and update the College’s website and external university listings to ensure accuracy and relevance.
- Coordinate internal and external EDM’s, ensuring consistency in messaging, tone, and branding.
- Identify content opportunities and promotional initiatives based on student recruitment, key events, alumni achievements, and College initiatives.
- Execute data-driven social media and email marketing campaigns to optimise student recruitment and community engagement.
- Implement and maintain branding guidelines, ensuring consistency across all materials.
- Oversee photography and videography for college events and marketing initiatives, including the annual student leadership team photography process.
- Monitor and analyse website, social media, and email campaign performance, providing data reports to refine marketing strategies.
- Execute and coordinate the College’s event program, including student formal dinners, professional development events, and alumni functions.
- Coordinate event logistics, including marketing, invitations, run sheets, stakeholder engagement, catering, external speakers, and suppliers.
- Maintain event budgets, ensuring cost-effectiveness and financial accountability.
- Support the ongoing management of the College’s CRM systems (student and alumni), ensuring data integrity and effective segmentation for engagement campaigns.
- Provide communications support for the College’s philanthropic initiatives.
- Stay informed of emerging trends and technologies in communications, marketing, and event management.
Qualifications and/or Experience
- A tertiary qualification in Marketing, Communications or a related field.
- Proven experience in communications, marketing, and event management.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong writing skills, with the ability to tailor content for diverse audiences and platforms.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, WordPress, Canva, InDesign, and social media management tools.
- Strong digital literacy, including experience with email marketing, CRM systems, and website management.
- Experience in developing video content and promotional media.
